Pediatric Neck Imaging Guidelines

This policy covers pediatric neck imaging (MRI, MRA, CT, CTA, PET and related procedures) for evaluation of pediatric neck disorders such as neck masses, cervical lymphadenopathy, dystonia/torticollis, dysphagia, thyroid/parathyroid, esophageal and tracheal conditions. Imaging is limited to symptomatic pediatric patients with documented active clinical signs (asymptomatic screening is not supported), atypical presentations require physician review and possible consultation with the referring clinician/specialist/PCP, and modality- or case-specific restrictions in the full guideline may apply (e.g., some codes are rarely used).
