Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Guidelines
EVICORE-PEDCARDIAC
This policy covers pediatric cardiac imaging modalities—primarily echocardiography, cardiac MRI, CT/CCTA, cardiac catheterization and nuclear studies—for evaluation and follow‑up of congenital and acquired pediatric cardiac conditions (e.g., congenital heart disease, heart murmur, chest pain, syncope, Kawasaki disease, pulmonary hypertension, MIS‑C). Imaging is limited to patients with documented active cardiac signs/symptoms or as follow‑up to prior abnormal studies, generally requires a prior clinical evaluation (except for guideline‑supported scheduled imaging or an indicated echocardiogram at the first cardiology visit), atypical presentations require physician review, and routine screening of asymptomatic patients is not supported; age‑specific guidance (<18 pediatric, ≥18 adult) applies.
