Pediatric and Special Populations Spine Imaging Guidelines
EVICORE-PEDIATRIC_SPINE_IMAGING_GUIDELINES
Covers advanced spine imaging (MRI, CT, MRA and related CPTs) for pediatric and special populations (≤18 years) including indications such as pediatric back/neck pain and trauma, kyphosis/scoliosis, spinal dysraphism/tethered cord, myelopathy and other congenital spine disorders. Major limitations require a pertinent clinical evaluation and appropriate laboratory/basic imaging (e.g., plain radiographs) performed since symptom onset (unless guideline-supported scheduled surveillance), routine screening or repeat imaging is not supported without documented progression or management impact, atypical presentations need physician review, and anesthesia considerations apply for young children.
