Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Guidelines
EVICORE-PED_CARDIAC_IMAGING_GUIDELINES
This policy covers pediatric cardiac imaging—including transthoracic echocardiography, cardiac MRI, CT/CCTA, nuclear studies and catheterization—for evaluation and management of congenital and acquired heart disease and related symptoms. It applies to children with congenital heart lesions, murmurs, chest pain, syncope, Kawasaki disease, MIS‑C, pediatric pulmonary hypertension and guideline‑supported surveillance, but requires a pertinent recent clinical evaluation (unless a guideline‑scheduled study or first‑cardiology‑visit echo applies), limits repeat studies to specified indications, and excludes routine screening of asymptomatic children (including for ADHD medication initiation); anesthesia needs for young children are also emphasized.
"This tool addresses common symptoms and symptom complexes."
