Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) - MEDICAID - LOUISIANA
HUMANA-COMMUNITY-PSYCHIATRIC-SUPPORT-AND-TREATMENT-CPST-AND-PSYCHOSOCIAL-REHABILITATION-PSR-LA-MEDICAID
This policy covers Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) as Mental Health Rehabilitation (MHR) services for Medicaid (Humana Healthy Horizons in Louisiana) members to provide skill-building, restoration, and community-based functional supports for children, adolescents and adults with significant functional impairments from a diagnosed mental health disorder. Services must be deemed medically necessary and recommended by a licensed mental health professional or physician, are not substitutes for psychotherapy, are typically delivered within a comprehensive specialized psychiatric program (PSR is face-to-face), are generally limited to one MHR provider at a time except for narrow exceptions, and adults with only SUD or IDD without a qualifying co-occurring mental health diagnosis are excluded.
"Documentation must reflect that PSR is a face-to-face intervention with the individual present (record of face-to-face contact)."
