Crisis Stabilization for Adults - MEDICAID - LOUISIANA
HUMANA-CRISIS-STABILIZATION-FOR-ADULTS-LA-MEDICAID
This policy covers Medicaid-funded crisis stabilization services for adults (age ≥21) experiencing a behavioral/mental health crisis who need immediate short-term stabilization but do not meet criteria for inpatient care, including Community Brief Crisis Support and other crisis stabilization interventions provided by licensed mental health professionals. Services must be medically necessary and recommended by a Louisiana-licensed LMHP or physician, exclude members requiring inpatient/nursing/hospital-level care or who are an imminent threat to self/others, must not duplicate other Medicaid State Plan services (IMD, room and board excluded), prohibit restraints/seclusion, and generally require referral from MCR, BHCC, CBCS or ACT teams with limited follow-up (up to 72 hours).
