Immersion Therapy Mattress-Bed - Medicare Advantage

This policy addresses immersion therapy mattresses/beds (fluid immersion simulation [FIS] systems) intended for prevention or treatment of pressure injuries (patients with or at risk for pressure ulcers, including use for postoperative surgical flap support as studied). Humana considers FIS systems not medically reasonable and necessary with no covered indications; coverage decisions are governed by applicable Medicare MAC LCDs/NCDs and this noncoverage applies across jurisdictions due to insufficient evidence of benefit.
