Platelet Rich Plasma for Wound Healing - Medicare Advantage
HUMANA-PLATELET-RICH-PLASMA-FOR-WOUND-HEALING-MA
This policy covers platelet‑rich plasma (PRP) therapy — primarily autologous blood‑derived PRP and related platelet‑derived products — for treatment of chronic, non‑healing cutaneous/soft‑tissue wounds (generally wounds persisting ≥30 days) and associated wound‑care services. Coverage is limited to the indications and medical‑necessity criteria in CMS NCD 270.3, the Medicare Claims Processing Manual Chapter 32, and applicable Local Coverage Determinations (e.g., L39068/L38937); services that do not meet those criteria are not covered.
"Implied/mentioned clinical contexts: treatment of chronic wounds (wounds that have failed to progress through normal healing stages)."
