HUMANA-PSYCHOEDUCATION-KY-MEDICAID
This policy covers psychoeducation as a component of treatment for individuals and families with mental health, substance use, or co‑occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders to teach problem‑solving, communication, coping skills, and relapse prevention. Coverage requires appropriate licensed providers or board‑approved supervision for associates (including CADC/other associate categories), is subject to local plan variations, and excludes or limits maintenance psychoeducation due to insufficient evidence (e.g., deemed not medically necessary when progress has ceased), delivery by certain unlicensed staff (peer supports/RBTs), and groups larger than 12.
