Substance Use Disorder Inpatient Services - Medicare Advantage
HUMANA-SUBSTANCE-USE-DISORDER-INPATIENT-SERVICES-MA
This policy covers inpatient hospital services for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment — including medically supervised detoxification during acute, high‑risk withdrawal and physician‑supervised inpatient rehabilitation — for individuals whose SUD causes significant impairment or poses risk to health, relationships, or daily functioning and who require 24‑hour hospital‑level medical/nursing care or intensive structured programming. Coverage is limited to Medicare‑allowed Part A services and requires that stays be reasonable and necessary, meet applicable NCDs (e.g., NCD 130.1/130.6), and generally satisfy the two‑midnight benchmark with supporting medical record documentation.
