Pulmonary Stress Testing
L33444
Pulmonary stress testing is covered to evaluate exercise tolerance, functional impairment, and exercise-limiting factors across cardiac and respiratory conditions (e.g., COPD, interstitial lung disease, heart failure, cystic fibrosis) and for preoperative or transplant evaluations and rehabilitation planning. Testing is contraindicated in multiple acute conditions (e.g., recent MI, unstable angina, acute PE, uncontrolled arrhythmias, SpO2 ≤85% on room air) and has several relative contraindications (e.g., severe untreated hypertension, significant pulmonary hypertension, advanced pregnancy) that require individualized risk assessment.
"Exercise (pulmonary stress) testing is medically necessary to evaluate exercise tolerance and determine functional impairment or capacity."
