Cardiac Computed Tomography (CCT) and Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CCTA)

CCTA/MDCT cardiac CT is covered for diagnostic evaluation of symptomatic patients when CAD is suspected (including chest pain, equivocal stress tests, known CAD with new/recurrent symptoms, post-CABG or post-stent evaluation, suspected congenital anomalies, pre-procedural coronary or pulmonary vein mapping, and select ED presentations with nondiagnostic ECG/enzyme results). CCTA is not covered for screening or when it will not provide new management-changing information, when invasive angiography will obviously be required, or for isolated quantitative calcium scoring; performance and interpretation require specific credentialing, physician supervision, and appropriate technologist training.

"CCTA is covered to evaluate patients presenting with chest pain syndrome when the clinician suspects coronary artery disease (CAD) and the test will be used in lieu of an imaging stress test."
