Autonomic function testing is covered when used as a targeted diagnostic tool for patients with signs or symptoms of autonomic dysfunction (e.g., hypotension, orthostatic tachycardia, hyperhidrosis) after more common causes are excluded, and when results will inform clinical management. Coverage requires performance and interpretation by qualified, Medicare‑enrolled clinicians using equipment that meets full test requirements (e.g., blood pressure monitoring and tilt-table for CPT 95924); routine screening, monitoring-only in certain comorbidities, or use of HRV-only devices is not covered. Repeat testing is allowed with a change in clinical status or treatment response but is generally not expected to exceed once per year.
