Pressure Reducing Support Surfaces - Group 2
L33642
A Group 2 pressure reducing support surface is covered when the beneficiary has (1) multiple stage 2 pressure ulcers on the trunk/pelvis that fail to improve after 1 month of a documented comprehensive treatment program, (2) large or multiple stage 3–4 pressure ulcers on the trunk/pelvis, or (3) had a myocutaneous flap/skin graft on the trunk/pelvis within 60 days and was on a group 2 or 3 surface immediately prior to discharge within 30 days. Coverage requires a qualifying care plan, compliance with Policy Article coding characteristics (no 'bottoming out'), and necessary documentation including SWO/WOPD and proof of delivery; noncompliance with criteria, coding, or documentation results in claim denials.
