Corneal Pachymetry
L33999
Medicare covers corneal pachymetry when it is integral to medical management and used to assess corneal thickness for endothelial trauma from surgery, pre-operative evaluation in Fuchs dystrophy, post-ocular trauma, or evaluation of suspected glaucoma after documented increased intraocular pressure prior to starting glaucoma therapy. Coverage is limited to services performed by ophthalmologists or optometrists, is generally allowed once per lifetime for glaucoma-related measurements (with exceptions for interval trauma or surgery), and is not covered for preparation of refractive surgery to correct refractive errors.
"Corneal pachymetry is covered to determine the amount of endothelial trauma sustained during ocular surgery."
