Blepharoplasty, Eyelid Surgery, and Brow Lift
L34411
Medicare covers blepharoplasty, blepharoptosis repair, and brow lift when performed for reconstructive purposes that improve function (for example, to correct visual field impairment, prevent corneal injury, relieve refractory blepharospasm, or enable prosthesis fitting). Procedures performed solely for cosmetic reasons, redundant procedures in the same session that are not necessary for functional correction, and causes managed by non-surgical means (e.g., prosthesis modification) are not covered; preoperative photographs and documentation of functional deficits or failed conservative/alternative treatments are required.
"Blepharoplasty, blepharoptosis repair, and brow lift are covered when performed to improve function (reconstructive) rather than solely for cosmetic reasons."
