The Stretta procedure for treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is considered investigational and is not covered. Coverage is denied because objective physiologic efficacy has not been demonstrated, its mechanism of action is unclear, and there is insufficient long-term safety and efficacy data.
