Home spirometry and telespirometry are covered for lung transplant recipients who demonstrate ≥80% adherence to transmission of spirometric measurements, with required documentation of transmitted tracings, data analysis, periodic recalibration, and physician review. Patients who are non-compliant (no transmissions for 7 consecutive days, and persistent non-compliance after outreach for an additional 7 days) are ineligible for continued coverage; the service is considered experimental and not covered for other pulmonary conditions such as asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and emphysema.
