Nerve blocks and electrostimulation (alone or combined) are considered investigational and are not covered for the treatment of neuropathies or peripheral neuropathies caused by underlying systemic diseases. Clinical management with systemic medications is the indicated treatment; the evidence base for these procedures in systemic-disease–related neuropathy is insufficient to warrant coverage.
