MolDX: Genetic Testing for Heritable Thoracic Aortic Disease
L39938
Genetic testing for heritable thoracic aortic disease is covered for hereditary germline testing when the patient has aortic root or ascending aortic dilation/aneurysm/dissection and at least one additional criterion (age <60, specific syndromic features, or qualifying family history). Coverage requires documentation that genetic counseling was offered, that the test includes guideline-recommended gene/content (per ClinGen and ACC/AHA) detectable by the assay, completion of a MolDX Technical Assessment, and avoidance of unvalidated or extraneous genetic content; single-variant testing is permitted for known familial variants. Testing must not conflict with repeat germline testing rules in policy L38274.
"Patient presents with aortic root or ascending aortic dilation, aneurysm, or dissection documented per national consensus guidelines."
