MolDX: Genetic Testing for Heritable Thoracic Aortic Disease

Coverage is provided for hereditary germline genetic testing for heritable thoracic aortic disease when the patient has aortic root/ascending aortic dilation, aneurysm, or dissection per national guidelines and at least one high-risk feature (presentation <60 years, Marfan/Loeys-Dietz/vascular Ehlers-Danlos features, relevant first- or second-degree family history, or unexplained early sudden death). Tests must include the minimum gene/variant content required by ClinGen and ACC/AHA, be limited to appropriate germline content (single-variant testing allowed only for known familial variants), and must have completed a MolDX Technical Assessment; documentation that counseling was offered is required.
