Policy Summary
Laetrile and related nitriloside substances (including amygdalin and 'vitamin B-17') are not recognized as safe and effective for any therapeutic use and are not covered by Medicare/Medicaid. Payment is prohibited for the drugs themselves, for services related to their administration, for hospital stays solely for their administration, and for their use during otherwise covered inpatient stays.
