Antigens Prepared for Sublingual Administration

For antigens provided on or after November 17, 1996, Medicare covers allergy immunotherapy only when the antigen is administered by injection. Sublingual administration (drops under the tongue) is explicitly not covered because it has not been demonstrated to be safe and effective.
