Sykes Hernia Control
NCD207
Effective: January 1, 1966
Updated: December 31, 2025
Policy Summary
The Sykes hernia control (spring-type, U-shaped, strapless truss) is reimbursable only under the same conditions that would authorize an ordinary (conventional) truss and only for reducible hernias. It is not considered functionally superior to a conventional truss; if its charge substantially exceeds a reasonable conventional-truss price, reimbursement is limited to the reasonable charge for the conventional truss.
