Policy Summary
Medicare Part B covers electronic speech aids as prosthetic devices only for patients who have had a laryngectomy or whose larynx is permanently inoperative. Device selection may be constrained by prior radical neck surgery or extensive anterior neck radiation, which often necessitates oral-tube models or more sensitive throat-contact devices.
