FDG PET for Refractory Seizures

Medicare covers FDG-PET to localize the focus of refractory seizure activity only when performed as part of a pre-surgical evaluation. Documentation that the patient meets these pre-surgical criteria must be maintained in the referring physician's medical record. FDG-PET for refractory seizures is not covered for non–pre-surgical or other purposes.
