Electrical aversion therapy (also called electroversion therapy, electro-shock therapy, or noxious faradic stimulation) is excluded from Medicare coverage because it has not been shown to be safe and effective. The exclusion applies to treatment of alcoholism under any frequency or documentation scenario.
