Policy Summary
CMS has determined that Outpatient Intravenous Insulin Therapy (OIVIT) is nationally non-covered and not reasonable and necessary for any indication for claims on or after December 23, 2009. Individual components of OIVIT may have accepted medical uses and could be covered under other Medicare national or local policies; coverage for those components should be determined by the referenced Medicare manuals and NCDs.
