Policy Summary
Therapeutic embolization is covered to control hemorrhage and for other clinical conditions when the procedure is reasonable and necessary for the individual patient. Specifically, renal embolization for renal adenocarcinoma is covered to reduce tumor vascularity preoperatively, to debulk in inoperable tumors, or to palliate symptoms.
