The national coverage determination for Transvenous (Catheter) Pulmonary Embolectomy (TPE) was retired effective October 28, 2021; there is no longer a national coverage policy for this procedure. Coverage, documentation, and prior authorization requirements are determined locally by Medicare Administrative Contractors under section 1862(a)(1)(A) of the Social Security Act.
