Corneal Hysteresis
OTH903.031
This policy addresses measurement of corneal hysteresis (CH), typically using the Ocular Response Analyzer, as an adjunctive biomechanical assessment for patients with glaucoma, glaucoma suspects, ocular hypertension, for identification of corneal pathology including keratoconus, and as part of preoperative refractive surgery evaluation. However, the policy notes CH is a non‑modifiable, adjunctive risk marker with limited and mixed evidence, is not sufficient alone to establish diagnosis or direct therapy, and CH assessments for risk assessment or monitoring of ophthalmic disease are considered experimental/investigational and not covered.
